Fresh, local food …
prepared well … prepared simply

At Pepperberries this is one of our adages.  A trip to the market, farm stand or backyard vegetable garden yields baby lettuces and herbs, carrots and radishes still gritty from the soil in the garden.  Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries  are bursting with sweet,  juiciness, still warm from the sunshine.

The adage, and emerging abundance influences the classes that are offered by our chefs.  If you are craving something fresh, check out a class called “Cool Food for Hot Days”  or “Grilled Salads.”  Do you have a sweet tooth?  We are offering a summer pie class.  Interested in finding out the ins and outs of grilling?  There are a couple of opportunities.  Want to bone up on your knife skills?  Take a class specifically to teach you how to use your knives.  Just like to eat?  We allow that in our classes, too!

We also have some new products that we’re really excited to talk about!  Since it is picnic season, we are carrying a new line of insulated picnic bags by Spectrum.  Stonewall Kitchen has come out with some foodstuffs to tuck into that picnic bag.  Try the Maple Honey Caramel Sauce … it would be great over pound cake with fresh peaches.  Their simmer sauces make a great quick meal with the addition of a few ingredients.

Set the mood at your outdoor gathering with new candles from Illume.  With fragrances like Valencia Orange and Lemongrass, you can’t go wrong.  Also, don’t forget to pick up a “Corkcicle” to keep your white wine or iced tea icy cold during a languid afternoon.

So come in, sign up for a class (registration starts on Thursday, April 19th at 10am), pick up needed goodies and gadgets so you are prepared to eat well and eat simply.

Passionate about food …

Michel Design Works creates the stunning wooden trays, paper goods and room fragrances that line our shelves.  “I soaked up all the sights, sounds, and scents, and they became the inspiration for the lush florals and memorable fragrances of our spring and summer lines. Then I layered botanical and natural history art, antique written material, and other elements to create new designs that capture my feelings about the French countryside.” Deborah Michel, Creative Director/Owner
